Each program under the eMasters portfolio offers modules
designed to be intellectually challenging and to cover state-of-
the-art topics, a hallmark of IIT Kanpur. The programs
consist of weekend-only live interactive sessions, coupled
with self-paced learning components.
Re-skilling and up-skilling are the need in today’s rapidly
changing world. Working professionals must continually
revise and upgrade their knowledge to keep up with the
intense competition and the latest developments to remain
industry-relevant.
With this target, IIT Kanpur launched the Masters Degree
programmes in 2022. It is a unique set of independent,
postgraduate-level flexible programmes exclusively designed
for working professionals to enable them with the relevant
expertise to stay agile, effective, and relevant in a fast-
changing technology-dominated world.

Many of the eMasters students have graduated and are looking forward to conquering the world
of technology, leadership and management. I am pleased to invite recruiters to participate in the
lateral placement process and provide opportunities to these experienced professionals.
Since the commencement of the eMasters the programmes have grown in the fields of
Management, Finance, Public Policy, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Wireless Communication,
Artificial Intelligence, Sustainable Construction, Power Sector Regulation, Climate Finance and
Renewable Energy.

Established in 1959, IIT Kanpur is the fourth oldest IIT in the country. Since its inception, the
institute has aimed for providing quality technical and management education to its students. It has
created platforms for contemporary scientific research and nurtured its academicians to reach their
full potential. Students at IIT Kanpur benefit from a world-class experience through advanced

IIT KANPUR
eMasters degree programme is an online post-graduate initiative approved by the IIT Kanpur
Senate, tailored for working professionals seeking to elevate their skills and expertise in the
competitive external landscape. Commencing in January 2022, this programme, spearheaded by
IIT Kanpur, boasts world-class faculty overseeing its operations.
About Programme: The eMasters experience is designed with flexibility in mind, offering both
synchronous and asynchronous modes of learning. From recorded lectures throughout the week to
live interactive sessions scheduled in the late evenings or weekends, the programme ensures a
comprehensive and engaging learning environment. Some courses even include lab sessions and
capstone projects, providing a holistic educational experience.

Class Schedule:
• Recorded lecture released any time within a week;
• Live interactive sessions scheduled in the late evening or in the weekend.
• Some programs may have some lab sessions.

• Flexible to choose the number of modules (min 0 & max 3) in each quarter.

Successful graduates not only gain valuable knowledge but also earn the esteemed status of IIT
Kanpur alumni. Additionally, students have the opportunity to waive up to 60 credits for higher
education (M.Tech/PhD) at IIT Kanpur.
Campus Immersion Programme (CIP): Adding an immersive touch to the virtual experience,
the Campus Immersion Programme (CIP) brings eMasters students closer to the vibrant life of IIT
Kanpur. Organized by various departments, CIPs offer a firsthand experience of campus life,
providing opportunities to connect with programme coordinators, the Dean of Academic Affairs,
the Office of OutReach Activities team, peer groups, and iconic labs like C3i Lab, Flight Lab, SIIC,
and more. Beyond academics, students engage in games and fun activities also.
Duration:
• Minimum of one year (four quarters) to maximum of three years (twelve quarters).
• A quarter = 3 months = 8 weeks of learning + 2 weeks of examinations + 2 weeks break.

PLACEMENT
POLICY
The OOA contacts different companies with relevant information.
The OOA appoints a representative as a point of contact (POC) for the interested
companies.
Companies need to contact the concerned POC (or mail to odl_placement@iitk.ac.in ) to
be updated about the ongoing placement process.
Companies need to fill out a Job Announcement Form (JAF) to share the offered job-
profile details. OOA also encourages the lateral placement process. (For companies
interested in lateral placement, please reach out to odl_placement@iitk.ac.in)
After verification of details by POC, job openings are made available to the students as
per dates decided by the OOA.
Students need to submit their resumes through OOA before the company's deadline.
Companies conduct the pre-placement talks (PPT) and tests/ screening process,
preferably in virtual mode, after finalizing the schedule with the OOA team.
Companies submit the final list of shortlisted students for the interview process to the
OOA.
Companies need to inform the dates of the interview to the OOA over email.
Companies provide the list of selected and waitlisted students to the OOA after the
completion of the selection process.
Companies are discouraged to send offer letters directly to the selected candidates.
Companies' offer letters should come to the OOA, and the OOA sends them to the
respective candidates.
The job offer should be consistent with the company's JAF.
The OOA notifies the companies regarding the acceptance of selected students.
